The Washington Post reveals that the Maryland State Police engaged in an outrageously illegal probe of human and animal rights groups, including People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Code Pink and Amnesty International, led by a fanatical undercover trooper known only by her codename “Lucy.” Even though “Lucy’s” two year-investigation uncovered no unlawful activity, 53 individuals were labeled as terrorists and reported to federal authorities. PETA joined the list of security threats because of concerns its members might disrupt the circus. In a kind understatement, the operation has been called a “waste of resources” by the current police superintendent, but no one has been reprimanded or fired. Instead, “Lucy” has been promoted twice. Promoted! She, and everyone else involved should be arrested. The domestic terrorists they were looking for turned out to be… themselves.
