So we’ve all heard the latest on how coal energy plants plan to go green, by trapping their CO2 emissions underground. Well, according to this New York Times piece, scientists have come up with another solution, injecting CO2 into deep sea rock. I’m not kidding. Scientists claim there’s enough space in this deep sea rock stuff to hold enough CO2 for over 100 years. Am I the only one or does this not seem like a long term answer to our problems. Trapping CO2 makes me nervous in fact. I mean, what if that shit leaks or bursts? Certainly if lava can erupt from miles underground… you get my point. Shouldn’t we be concentrating on truly green energy sources like solar or wind? Just saying.
